We are looking for an experienced IT professional to plan and manage our IT infrastructure: servers, operating systems & networks across our production, test and development environments. Job spec below.

Systems Administrator & IT Infrastructure Operations

Reporting to CTO

Summary:

Proactively plan, implement and administer all aspects of the technical infrastructure to support the Zopa production servers, test servers, development environments and supporting systems.

This role would suit an applicant with a broad range of IT skills, particularly of Windows platforms. A motivation to do the job the 'right' way, and an ability to manage time and resources in doing so is important. Skill in negotiating and managing relationships with third parties is also desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Zopa production, test and development servers, ensuring that each server has very high uptime
  • Troubleshoot problems with servers, networks, web services & mail services
  • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices
  • Manage relationships with third party suppliers and service providers, negotiating to ensure Zopa receive excellent value for money
  • Plan and manage any changes required with co-location hosting providers
  • Coordinate with the development team to schedule releases of software updates
  • Coordinate with the operations team to proactively maintain availability and resolve issues
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Windows Server Administration
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2003
  • Advanced knowledge of IIS 6.0
  • Good knowledge of networking, including VPNs
  • Experience with enterprise level servers and storage solutions (HP, Dell, IBM)
  • Experience with MS SQL Server 2005
  • Working knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools, and how to monitor a production environment
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Effectively communicate technical issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
  • Experience of managing and implementing Windows Clusters and experience with VMWare Infrastructure would be advantageous.
