This month at Zopa - July
It's a great time to be a new lender at Zopa. Not only is the Little Guide to Lending the perfect way to get to grips with Zopa, but below experienced lender elljay gives his hints and tips for lending success. And if you happen to be looking for a holiday villa in Crete as well, this could be the newsletter of your dreams...

150,000 up
In October last year, Zopa broke the 100,000-member barrier and became officially Bigger Than Basildon (population: 99,876). Well, fans of milestones will be delighted by the news that the number of members has now rocketed to well over 150,000, promoting Zopa to Mightier Than Macclesfield (pop: 150,500) status. But now's not the time to get complacent. Keep spreading the word about Zopa through the Tell a Friend scheme, and let's aim to make Zopa Larger Than Leicester (pop: 288,000) by the end of the year.
MAR 01 2007
2 years and 140,000 members
With our birthday falling on the 7th, March is always a special month at Zopa. But the appointment of a new CEO made this month even more special than usual. Zopa has been CEO-less for a while now, and it's great to finally get someone on board. Below we unveil this latest addition to The Zopa Team and give him a good grilling about his background, where he sees Zopa going, and his views on British Formula 1 drivers.

Special Valentine's Edition
February is the month of love, romance and bumper profits for florists. And Zopa members got into the spirit of things this Valentine's Day by deluging each other with nice notes as part of our inaugural messaging service. If you didn't get any from your lenders or borrowers, don't worry - there's always next year. And in the meantime, you can console yourself by reading a selection of messages other members received in this special, Valentine's-themed newsletter.

January, the door to the year
Talk about starting with a bang. The first month of 2007 has been one of the busiest ever at Zopa, with more loans agreed and more money exchanged than in any other month in Zopa's history. Lenders' money has been flying out of the door and hundreds of new borrowers have cut out the banks and got themselves a low, low rate. With a splendid January behind us, it looks set to be an exciting and prosperous year for every Zopa member.

Bumper Christmas Edition
This edition of This Month at Zopa is less of a monthly update and more of an annual review. It's the Zopa equivalent of the Christmas issue of the Radio Times, although we're not expecting you to go through it with a highlighter circling things you like (but if you do, print it out first). In keeping with the end of year review theme, we've got our version of the Queen's Speech, a couple of Christmas plays, the Username of the Year competition, and an interview with cybergran, Zopa's oldest lender, which isn't particularly festive but we did ask her a question about turkey.

This month at Zopa - October
Bigger than Basildon
Dust off your glad rags, put up some garish decorations and buy in an industrial
size box of party poppers - because it's time to celebrate. You see, we're currently
straddling two massive events in Zopa history: the number of Zopa members has just
broken the 100,000 barrier and we're days away from launching the brand new website.
This month at Zopa - September
Out with the old
With the A* and C markets in place, our attention is now firmly fixed on getting
the brand new Zopa website up and running. Yes, that's right - the brand new Zopa
website. The old design is being completely overhauled, and in a few months' time
the site will be bigger, brighter and better than ever before.
This month at Zopa - August
The new Zopa markets
The tension's building, the excitement's mounting, and the crowds are, well, crowding
round as it's very, very nearly time for the unveiling of the new Zopa markets.
The A* and C markets are opening next week (the week of 7th August), and that'll
be great for everyone, as more borrowers will be able to get Zopa loans, and Zopa
lenders will get more choice about who they lend to.
This month at Zopa - July
What's in a name?'
This month we're going to try and settle a debate that's as old as Zopa itself:
what to call a group of Zopa members? We've heard many suggestions over the
years, but no clear consensus has ever emerged. On the discussion board, 'Zopoids'
has become the popular term for members of the Zopa Team, but when it comes to describing
Zopa members some people use 'Zopanites', some 'Zopateers', some 'Zopatines' and
so on. We decided to put an end to this madness and settle on a name once and for
all.
This month at Zopa - June
World Cup fever
With the World Cup but a stone's throw away, many of you will be wondering who to
support once England get knocked out thanks to a dodgy refereeing decision/a penalty
shoot-out/the Germans. Well, allow us to lend a hand. Because we're urging all Zopa
members to get behind 2 particular players this summer: BOROWSKI from Germany and
LINDEROTH (pronounced LENDER-OFF) from Sweden.
This month at Zopa - May
There's been quite a literary feel to Zopa recently. We've given away theatre tickets to mark Shakespeare's birthday, one of the Egg Hunt clues was based on Pride and Prejudice, and there have been a glut of usernames inspired by characters from great works of fiction (Jeeves, annahowe, mrfox, gepetto, Dangermouse). And just when it looked like we were running out of steam, it turns out that the champagne we're giving away in our latest lender offer is made by someone called Faust.
But with a summer of sport ahead of us, there's only so long this highbrow-ness can last. So enjoy it while you can book-lovers, because it's only a matter of time before literary-inspired usernames are out and names like lampardisgod, murraymania, flintoff_fan, and sven4PM are in.
This month at Zopa - March
So we decided it was about time to send you a monthly email letting you know what's going on in the world of Zopa. Because a lot happens each month at Zopa. Changes are made to the site; offers come and go; and, most important of all, loads more people find out about Zopa and become members. Which is good for everyone. Because the more Zopa members there are, the more people there are to lend to and borrow from. And more people lending and borrowing means more people getting together and making deals that suit everyone, not just the bank manager. Which is great for everyone, bar the bank manager.
