Zopa Newsletter, July 2008
Rather aptly, this month's NEWsletter is all about NEWness...
New Young Market
We're dead chuffed because we launched a completely new market earlier this week, especially for 20-25 years olds to borrow from.

So what's so special about these young 'uns?
Well, people of this age group often find it hard to get an unsecured loan; not because they have any bad debt but because they don't have much history of debt, which means they can't prove how reliable they'll be in making repayments.
We get a lot of applications from these borrowers, so rather than turn them away, we've created a market place just for them so they can get the financial help they need during their early careers from lenders who are prepared to take a little more risk for a little more return.

Zopa lenders have already placed thousands on offer to the Young Market so if you're a bright young thing yourself, or you know a guy or a gal who is, go to see today's available rates!

New podcast
We were also pretty pleased when Motley Fool invited us along to talk to them recently.

Giles went along last week to discuss whether Zopa could be better than your bank with David Kuo and you can hear their chat in this podcast.

Yet more new faces in the office. Introducing Simon and Lisa...

So, Simon, what have you joined Zopa to do?

I'm the new Systems Administrator, which means I look after the IT infrastructure for the company.

Oooh, very technical! So what username will we see you posting on the discussion boards with?

I'll be there as SimonWZopa

Any interesting facts to share about yourself?

Not that I know of!

I'm sure we'll discover something...how about food likes and hates?

Well, I like most types of food, but I'm not keen on offal.

No argument from me there! Welcome to the team.

Simon

And over to you, Lisa. What are you doing for us at Zopa?

I'm a Junior Underwriter and Operations Administrator all rolled into one.

Crikey - so only superwoman, then! And if you're posting on the discussion boards, what nom de plume will you be using?

Lisabelson (very imaginative, I know!)

Looking forward to seeing you there. So come on, you must have in interesting fact about yourself!

I am left eyed!

Eh?!

I can't wink with my left eye, so I have to do things like archery left-handed, but I'm right-handed for most other things.

Ooooh! You're all ambidextrous - no wonder you're doing two jobs in one! And what are your food yeahs and food neighs?

I love pasta and I love cheese, so macaroni cheese is yummy, but I hate fish and all things seafood.

All the more Fisherman's pie for me then! Good to have you with us.

Lisa
