A new-look newsletter for you this month
|
|

It's been rather eventful hasn't it? The
USA elected their first ever black president, Ross & Brand-gate hit the headlines,
Britney made her comeback, and the world's fattest man,
Manuel Uribe, began married life in Mexico.
Here at Zopa, we had to get up extra early to make ourselves look beautiful for
our appearance on
Working Lunch. We also featured in The Guardian twice (get us!) which you
can see here.

Did you know... that it's impossible to lick your elbow?

Zopa are really pleased to have teamed up
with Good Energy.
A third of the average person's carbon footprint comes from the electricity used
at home, so Good Energy customers feel rather pleased with themselves because they
know that their electricity has zero carbon impact.
Good Energy ensures that all their electricity comes from renewable sources such
as water, wind and sunlight, and it actually doesn't add much more than £1 a week
to the bill.
They also offer loads of help and advice for customers who want to go a step further
and generate their own renewable power.
So not only does it make you feel warm in your house, it makes you feel all warm
and fuzzy inside too.
Check their website out for more
info.

Did you know... that every day more money is printed for Monopoly
than the US Treasury?

Last month we wrote about our friends at
Global Giving and they've now created a Christmas pressie that really does keep
giving.
You can make a donation in a friend or family member's honour this Christmas, or
send a gift certificate that they can spend on a project of their choice. The recipient
of your gift will also receive a personalised e-card from you.
Visit www.globalgiving.co.uk/christmas
to find out more.

This month, we have not one, but two newbies
at Zopa, so we thought we would share a few key facts to help you get to know them
a bit better.
Jenny has joined the team in the PR and marketing department, and
her CV reads something like this:
- The only time she's ever attempted karaoke (to Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of
the Heart', fact fans) the mike was wrestled off her after less than a minute by
the horrified DJ.
- She pretends her favourite TV show is Mock the Week but it's actually America's
Next Top Model.
- She hates chocolate cake, but loves both chocolate and cake.
- Her greatest moment was meeting Harold Bishop from Neighbours.
Briony is new to the operations team, and it's worth being nice
to her because she answers all your emails. Here's what you need to know...
- She has an extreme love of heights and has proven this by jumping out of a plane
(don't worry there was a parachute) and by bungee jumping twice.
- She tells people she would become a celebrity just for the purpose of going round
the Top Gear track as 'star in a reasonably priced car', but really it would be
to go on Strictly Come Dancing.
- She does not like tea, which most of the world seem to think is crazy but she
can drink coffee by the gallon and her friends even say she has a 'coffee face'
(this is the look of happiness that comes over her face after the first sip or smell
of coffee).
- Her greatest moment was when she won a paintballing competition for her team in
an epic make or break final round and got to gloat at all the alpha males afterwards.

Did you know... that at least 75% of people reading this email
will have just tried to lick their elbow?
